The advent of mobile phone gaming launched thousands of games on the go. This genre may be disregarded by some hardcore gamers as too casual, but let us not invalidate their credit. For those who love role-playing games with an anime art style, anyone will definitely enjoy Valiant Force.
Valiant Force was developed by XII Braves, a Singapore-based company and a novice in the mobile gaming industry and was published by FunPlus’s DianDian Interactive Holding.
The game takes place in the continent of Arathos. The backstory begins when the twins Emma and Ethan Godric exacted their revenge on the rival families who conspired against them. Their parents were accused of treason and executed unjustly. The twins practiced the forbidden blood magic to avenge for their parents. On that fateful day, Emma Godric was driven mad by her powers. She realized that humanity needs atonement from their sins through death. Believing that justice has been served, Ethan Godric attempted to awaken Emma from her maddened state but she continued with her destruction. Ethan fled as he was the only one spared alive.
Years passed and Emma continued ravaging Arathos. The remaining kingdoms rallied together in Cyron Steppes to put an end to Emma’s reign. When Emma was about to cast her most devastating spell, Ethan stabbed her. Since the spell was incomplete, she was engulfed and souls from the battlefield were forcibly ripped. Emma swore to return someday and Ethan vanished. This tragedy known as The Great War brought all kingdoms together to achieve peace.
In the game’s prologue, peace was restored as an arranged marriage between the most influential families was held in Fairwyn. When the ceremony was about to start, a cloaked figure summoned demons and slaughtered everybody. The cloaked figure had not anticipated that three legendary Valiants were secretly attending that day. The heroes eliminated the monsters, forcing the cloaked figure to retreat. A young squire named Leon Daracan joined the fight as three Valiants pursued the cloaked figure. As the threat reemerged in Arathos, the world now depends on the Valiants to vanquish them.
Free2PlayMMOs Gaming Channel has revealed Valiant Force’s in-depth game mechanics. Players summon and collect heroes called Valiants. Each Valiant represents the playable classes. They have a fixed class and they can select specialized jobs in their job trees. The game comes with more than 200 Valiants. There are six available classes for players to unlock with more than 40 specializations and branching job trees.
Players can customize and upgrade their Valiants with weapons, set armors, and accessories. Important resources like materials and potions are acquired from combat rewards and in-game stores. Characters have different spells at their full disposal. The game’s grid-based Rune System provides additional enhancements for characters.
Valiant Force had also introduced the Heroes’ Faith. This system affects the characters’ statistical growth. There are six available Faiths in the game and they are assigned randomly to new characters. Players can opt to reroll their characters’ Faith. In order to reassign a new Faith, players have to sacrifice a hero with similar rarity.
This game’s combat system is turn-based in a 3 x 6 field. Players form squads comprised of six Valiants. During combat, players assign character positions to engage enemies and activate the Aura Trigger. Aura Triggers are passive skills where characters have to move near each other to receive bonuses and activate certain skills. Apparently, positioning characters is the key to winning fights.
The Garrison System lets players deploy their Valiants to gather more resources, as well as build structures in a limited space. This helps players to upgrade their personal kingdoms and buff up their Valiants.
Players can progress the game through Story Quests and acquire limited edition rewards by participating in Event Quests. Other than completing the quests, players can also join guilds and compete in the PVP arena. The game comes with an official forum to gather information, read in-game updates, and interact with the community.
The game boasts its gorgeous 2D anime style and 3D models. Its impressive music was created by former Square Enix composer and Basicscape CEO Hitoshi Sakimoto. Characters are also fully voiced by known Japanese voice actors like Yūki Kaji and Yoshino Nanjō.
