The HyperX™ CLOUD for PlayStation® 4 is a huge leap from the simple HyperX™ CLOUD platform for more reasons than one. It is not only more good-looking, it is also better in terms of comfort and ease of use. We recommend it to gamers of all sorts, as well as to typical PC users.
The HyperX™ CLOUD for PlayStation® 4 comes in a black and royal blue combo finish, which exudes a manly look for that hombre gamer. Comfort is at its best with this gaming gizmo. Thanks to the ultra-soft ear cushions integrated, gamers can take delight in marathon battles without tiring their ears. As for the stem of the headset, it provides a good grip of the user’s head, making it great for high-intensity combats and extensive gaming sessions. This makes the squeezing feeling of the stem more comfortable, providing gamers with a better sense of the environment despite the good sound output. Adding to this is how the users can move around their head without much repercussion, allowing them to switch positions with ease.
The CLOUD for PlayStation® 4 has the HyperX™ logo on its sides, giving it the insignia of a headset that was made to stand out. The HyperX™ series of headsets has always been trustworthy when it comes to being sturdy and ready to face the elements, much credit being owed to the stringent procedures they had undergone.
In terms of sounds, the headset performs well, whether in bass or in treble. There seems to be no echo when taken to high levels of the treble spectrum. With bass, it does not seem to create the uncomfortable shaking that tends to happen with such kinds of sounds. Its noise cancellation is better than most as well. The treble is not affected by outside noise when worn. There is a considerable amount of segregation of sound between the earlobes and sound sources outside of the headset, which produces a feeling that one is inside a room. The effect is that this makes the HyperX™ CLOUD better at surround-sound environments.
The detachable microphone is just like all others, but what makes it different is that it has a plug to cover the input port of the mic. Along the cord is a wheel that controls the volume, and underneath it, a switch that controls whether the mic is enabled or not. This is unlike the HyperX™ CLOUD for PC, which needed to be controlled from inside the desktop, because it did not have physical volume controls.
In all, the HyperX™ CLOUD for PlayStation® 4 performs better in all regards than its predecessors. It also looks good, and feels good when worn too. It provides gamers with all the demands that they would require to play a good game.
Verdict: 5 Stars
We rate the HyperX™ CLOUD for PlayStation® 4 a total of 5 stars as it delivers truly immersive sounds. It’s best suited for games that involve a first-person view as this gives gamers the right in-game feel that they’ve always been deserving of.
